Update Configuration

The Update menu of the Configuration menu retrieves detailed configuration options for the online update and the massage window:

• Install program help
  Choose this option when you need help files. Users of slow modem Internet connections can save download time with disabling this option.
   
• Install additional languages
  If this option is enabled, all available language updates will be downloaded. If it is disabled, just language updates of the current used language will be downloaded.
   
• Install beta updates
  Choose that option if you always want to use the latest but untested beta version of the software (if a beta is available). Beta software is often not stable enough for daily use und should just be used by experienced users who can fix the installation at a push. There is no warranty for beta versions. The use is at your own risk!
   
• Submit names of detected Malware
  Choose this option to allow transferring the names of the last detected Malware files by a-squared to the a-squared server when updating. The data will be saved anonymous and just for statistical purpose to detect Malware pandemics faster.

Alerts settings

• News Boxes
  a-squared Anti-Malware brings the news of the security scene directly to your desktop. Enable this option to get a small pop-up information window when a new news reaches.
   
• Update Messages
  If this option is enabled a small information box will be announced when an update was downloaded automatically and installed.
   
• Restart Alerts
  A restart of the computer could be sporadically necessary after online updates for a correct installation of it. Thus this option should always be enabled. Just disable this option if you depend on getting no pop-up windows of the background guard, i.e. when you use a full screen application.
